..It’s that time of year again, before we allow ourselves to get too excited over vats of mulled wine and too many mince pies we desperately try to conjure up the perfect gift ideas for all of our loved ones.
Fear not last-minute shoppers, I know its now mid-December and you still haven’t bought anything more than the wrapping paper – but I’ve got your back. I’ve tried my hardest to cater for every single lady in your life for all budgets. Its a fairly long one so grab a cuppa and let your finger do all of the hard work. (PS – if you haven’t even bought the wrapping paper yet, I have one word – ELFRIDGES – where all the little Selfridges elves do the hard work for you. Get on it.)First up; the shoe lover. When she tears open the wrapping paper to a perfect brown box with the word Louboutin emblazed across it her christmas has already been made. With one of these classic beauties inside you’ve already made her year; (clockwise from top) Pigalle 120mm pumps, Pigalle 120mm spiked pumps, So Kate 120mm pumps, Lady Peep 150mm Black Patent Platform Pumps (the next pair on my wishlist) or go all-out, decorated with spikes. If she has Louboutin tastes but you’ve got a Topshop budget, these strappy beauties are perfect. If she already has more dancing shoes than there are nights in December, go for a chic pair of Michael Kors ankle boots. If she has as wild side, these are AMAZING. If your really stuck, girls always love Choo’s. Especially with glitter. I love these Anouk Glitter finished pumps.
For the make-up maven who believes she’s tried everything, turn to one of the amazing palettes that have been released this festive season. NARS have set the bar as per usual with a selection of gorgeous stocking fillers; Adult Content Blush Palette, Promiscuous Lip Pencil set, God Created the Woman Smoky Eye Palette, One Night Stand Blush Palette and the Douceurs de Paris Eyeshadows. Bobbi Brown always provide a fail-safe Secret Santa with a selection of make-up books to suit all ages and abilities, gorgeous brush sets and a ton of beautiful palettes. If your still stuck, the MAC holiday collection palettes are amazing this year, and I love these cute dinky little Laura Mercier sets, they have nude, pretty and smoky palettes on offer at Space NK.
Similarly to Louboutin, Mulberry is a Christmas Morning classic. When she opens a butter-soft leather beauty you’ve made her entire year. The favoured Alexa is a real crowd-pleaser, but this year I’m also loving the Medium Dorset Tote, big enough to cart around all of her daily essentials while hiding the not so glamorous parts of daily life with ease. The new Bayswater shoulder bags are just beautiful on every level (especially in crimson lizzardskin), I literally sighed when I first laid eyes on it… For something a little more quirky, I LOVE these now classic Lulu Guinness Lips clutches, available in a range of colours and prints here, but the black snakeskin is still my favourite. This Givenchy tote may be a little more trendy than a forever bag, but that doesn’t stop swooning over it and this little Charlotte Olympia clutch is just too cute.
All ladies love to feel sexy and glamorous in their smalls, be it a silk Agent Provocateur body or some crisp pyjamas, lingerie is a gift all women enjoy. Agent Provocateur truly is the ultimate in sexy gifts, these sets will certainly heat up her Christmas; Marisela set matching briefs and bodysuit, the classic Love Bra in any of the three colours or this beautiful black lace set. For a cheaper alternative, I’ve declared my undying love for the Rosie for Autograph range many times, this gorgeous longline bra and silk teddy tick all of the right boxes. Olivia Von Valle and Equipment are the go-t0 for beautiful silk pyjamas, but Topshop, Victoria Secret and Boux Avenue offer a great range for a fraction of the price.
There is a hidden beauty queen in us all, there is always something special about receiving a luxury skincare or beauty gift set as it’s not always something we spend the extra money to buy for ourselves. Laura Mercier candle, bath and body sets in a delicious range of scents are another Christmas favourite, as are the Jo Malone ones. Charlotte Tilbury has stuck gold with her entire makeup kits to create a face from The Rebel to The Sophisticate, I love the entire contents of The Dolce Vita set as much as the gorgeous bags they come in. Beauty Queens are skincare obsessives as a breed, treat her to a luxurious Eve Lom Daily Face Saver Set or the now famous Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial. This Antipodes Manuka Honey Mask is a little more wallet friendly and any Diptyque Room Spray, NARS lippy or Soap & Glory treat will make any beauty lover a very happy lady.
True fashionistsas move fast, while most folk are still wrapped up in burgundy faux fur jackets, she is already starting to roll out next seasons wardrobe. Forget the darker hues and heavy textures; treat her to a bright green Mulberry Suffolk tote, or pastel Alexander McQueen scarf. These cotton Topshop pyjamas are a cosy addition to her already bursting lingerie drawer and you’ll knock her socks off with this Primark, (yes really) J Crew-esque jumper for twelve quid. Stick to spring when it comes to accessories; Dolce & Gabbana iPad sleeve, Topshop earrings, ASOS sunglasses or an Estella Bartlett wishbone necklace.
Big, thick, glossy and delicious coffee table books make the perfect present, Net a Porter have a beautiful selection in; Kate Moss by Mario Testino, Alexa Chung IT and the Christian Louboutin bible. Smythson are another luxurious and fail-safe bet, the bright yellow 2014 diary is all kinds of gorgeous, as are the tongue-in-cheek leather notebooks; ‘places to remember‘ and ‘today I’m going to be nice‘ to name a few.
For the ladies in your life that take huge pride in their home, love nothing more than getting cosy in a onesie and lighting candles then home fragrance is fail-safe gift! The Diptyque candles are a favourite of mine, this set of the bestselling minis is a great introduction to the brand everyone will love, choose from 3, 5 or 10 candles. Jo Malone home fragrance gift sets, the White Company and Zara Home all offer a beautiful selection. Whether your looking to blow the budget, do so in style with a beautiful zebra print rug or fill her stocking with baubles, Charbonnel et Walker truffles (THE best chocolate in the world), a classic Veuve Clicquot or gorgeous Emma Bridgewater mug, there’s something to suit all homebodies.
If your still stuck; the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette launches on the 16th December (I don’t think I know a lady who wouldn’t fall for the rosy hues), I know the boy has already bought me a ready-to-dress-up Boo the Worlds Cutest Dog mug – again, who couldn’t love that? If your feeling very generous or particularly flush book her a trip of a lifetime; a romantic break somewhere hot and exotic or a weekend in the Big Apple? Virgin do great deals around this time of year and Emirates flies to pretty much every exotic eastern destination you can dream of… Finally, Oxfam Unwrapped offer an amazing range of gifts from £5 who will put as much of a smile on their face as it will to an entire village who get clean water for Christmas.
