Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture..

How I love Couture week.

I’ve been pouring over like a kid in a candy shop, sighing at beautiful lace, embellishment, the gorgeous faces of the clothes horses to model the creations and fantasising of a world where we can all run around clad head to toe in haute couture creations every day…

Raf Simons didn’t let me down, and this season it was all about cutwork. Outfit after outfit was slashed or winkled open to form a lattice that veiled the female form below. Then there were actual overlays, and veils of sheer silk covering polka-dot sheaths. Everything shook or shimmied beautifully, with an air of sexiness, as concealment infused with the peekaboo promise of revelation often is.

I’m now getting myself horribly excited to see the Elie Saab show, which I’m certain will be my very favourite – as always – from couture week.

Rachelle Loves Black Magic..

All of yesterdays spooky excitement has me eyeing up a selection of not so ghoulish, but sexy selection of naughty treats..

1. Love, love loving the ever favoured Diptyque Baies candle in a gorgeous dark finish, this looks amazing burning next to one of their smaller classic white candles for a beautiful monochrome detail to finish off a room.

2. I’m becoming increasingly obsessed with the Lulu Guinness lips clutches, this black snakeskin version is a sophisticated version of the fun classic.

The Love Affair Continues..

I already devoted a post to declaring excitement/infatuation and a load of other way too excitable ramblings for a new season high street collection last week, but these little beauties have filtered their way under my Zara-radar and left me too hot to not share with you;

The dress is yours for less than £40 and the beautiful palest pink coat will set you back £180, which I think is very reasonable, it’ll ultimately cost you more in dry cleaning..

Bright Eyes and Orange Pouts..

When it comes to beauty, its so often preached that bare is beautiful. Quite rightly so. But, every now and then so is a bit of colour on your face. Orange has become one of the biggest beauty trends we’ve seen this summer, appearing on the gorgeous and fashion conscious (myself included, of course..) has been sporting it everywhere from toenails and talons to the ends of your hair in a crazy dip-dye craze. You already know I love a good statement lip, to me its the easiest way to work a bright pop into your visage without having to do too much to the rest of it.

Cast your mind back to the SS13 shows last September in Milan, where Moschino models took to the runway breaking all of the beauty rules your Mum had taught you; there was long fluttery lashes, bright orange lips, statement brows and white liner lining each beautiful eye. I’ve been drawing inspiration when “doing” my own face, and when putting my say into styling a shoot or look.

Unfortunately, not many of us look like Cara Delevinge nor feature regularly in high-fashion campaigns where this kinda look is commonplace – even I admit the full on re-creation is a little much for a trip to ASDA but why not channel your inner Cara and go all out for a night of cocktails, there are so many orange tones out there that work for almost any skin tone and paired with a slick of white liner the look is young, fresh and polished.
