The Christmas Gift Guide..

..It’s that time of year again, before we allow ourselves to get too excited over vats of mulled wine and too many mince pies we desperately try to conjure up the perfect gift ideas for all of our loved ones.
Fear not last-minute shoppers, I know its now mid-December and you still haven’t bought anything more than the wrapping paper – but I’ve got your back. I’ve tried my hardest to cater for every single lady in your life for all budgets. Its a fairly long one so grab a cuppa and let your finger do all of the hard work. (PS – if you haven’t even bought the wrapping paper yet, I have one word – ELFRIDGES – where all the little Selfridges elves do the hard work for you. Get on it.)c600x600First up; the shoe lover. When she tears open the wrapping paper to a perfect brown box with the word Louboutin emblazed across it her christmas has already been made. With one of these classic beauties inside you’ve already made her year; (clockwise from top) Pigalle 120mm pumps, Pigalle 120mm spiked pumps, So Kate 120mm pumps, Lady Peep 150mm Black Patent Platform Pumps (the next pair on my wishlist) or go all-out, decorated with spikes. If she has Louboutin tastes but you’ve got a Topshop budget, these strappy beauties are perfect. If she already has more dancing shoes than there are nights in December, go for a chic pair of Michael Kors ankle boots. If she has as wild side, these are AMAZING. If your really stuck, girls always love Choo’s. Especially with glitter. I love these Anouk Glitter finished pumps.

For the make-up maven who believes she’s tried everything, turn to one of the amazing palettes that have been released this festive season. NARS have set the bar as per usual with a selection of gorgeous stocking fillers; Adult Content Blush Palette, Promiscuous Lip Pencil set, God Created the Woman Smoky Eye Palette, One Night Stand Blush Palette and the Douceurs de Paris Eyeshadows. Bobbi Brown always provide a fail-safe Secret Santa with a selection of make-up books to suit all ages and abilities, gorgeous brush sets and a ton of beautiful palettes. If your still stuck, the MAC holiday collection palettes are amazing this year, and I love these cute dinky little Laura Mercier sets, they have nude, pretty and smoky palettes on offer at Space NK.

Bright Eyes and Orange Pouts..

When it comes to beauty, its so often preached that bare is beautiful. Quite rightly so. But, every now and then so is a bit of colour on your face. Orange has become one of the biggest beauty trends we’ve seen this summer, appearing on the gorgeous and fashion conscious (myself included, of course..) has been sporting it everywhere from toenails and talons to the ends of your hair in a crazy dip-dye craze. You already know I love a good statement lip, to me its the easiest way to work a bright pop into your visage without having to do too much to the rest of it.

Cast your mind back to the SS13 shows last September in Milan, where Moschino models took to the runway breaking all of the beauty rules your Mum had taught you; there was long fluttery lashes, bright orange lips, statement brows and white liner lining each beautiful eye. I’ve been drawing inspiration when “doing” my own face, and when putting my say into styling a shoot or look.

Unfortunately, not many of us look like Cara Delevinge nor feature regularly in high-fashion campaigns where this kinda look is commonplace – even I admit the full on re-creation is a little much for a trip to ASDA but why not channel your inner Cara and go all out for a night of cocktails, there are so many orange tones out there that work for almost any skin tone and paired with a slick of white liner the look is young, fresh and polished.

Mad for Matte Lips..

LEFASHIONBLOGBEAUTYPOSTBRIGHTMATTELIPS3.jpg

Luckily for me, as a mad-about-matte-lips-lady, matte lipsticks in bright and punchy shades grazed SS13 catwalks everywhere from always OTT Prada to always understated Erdem.

Two of my favourite shades to create a summer-friendly pop of colour are from the genius that is Francois Nars in the form of the famous Semi Matte Lipstick; first up we have the perfect blue-toned pink Schiap and the orangey-red Heatwave which isn’t far from Mac’s Lady Danger but brighter in the orange department.

Draw your inspiration from the ever-gorgeous Miss Delevinge – keeping the visage naturally flawless and dewy, concentrate on simply contouring and highlighting your cheekbones, eyes and high points of your face for supermodel definition and of course – tidy up those brows but leave out any colour to allow the lips do the talking. Fresh yet dramatic perfection.

With a neat slick of lipliner and carefully applied matte pigment, these Nars lippies should see you through the hottest of summer nights.
